About Us

The Who

Hi, I'm Eryn, chief visionary of Conscious Creations.  I'm passionate about beautiful hand crafted products and about helping people with extreme life challenges – that’s what Conscious Creations is all about.  Our primary focus is social change and awareness rather than production times and high profits.
Of course there's more.  Keep Reading :)

The Why

Well, I left the U.S. and began traveling in March of 2014 with a one-way flight to India after several major life changes in my mid thirties.  I was not well traveled when I left and I had no idea how I would experience the world; to be honest, I was scared to death! As with most things though, the fears in my mind were far worse than anything I experienced and I finally decided to shed the fear and just take in the experiences around me.
It was life changing and profoundly humbling.
Seeing the world up close, especially in developing countries, has given me an overwhelming sense of gratitude and has inspired me to help others wherever I can.  I'm not naive enough to think I can change the world, but if we all do just one little something, we can collectively make a difference in someone’s life!
I think the Dalai Lama expresses the sentiment perfectly.
"I believe that to meet the challenge of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not for his or her self, family or nation, but for the benefit of all mankind. Universal responsibility is the real key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace, the equitable use of natural resources and through concern for the future generations, the proper care of the environment."
I see now how vital the Dalai Lama’s statement is to, “benefit all mankind”, whereas before I didn't really know what I could do and was more caught up in the happenings of my own little world. I was a compassionate person before, no doubt I wanted to help, but I didn’t see how and I was not willing to take action. For me now, eyes wide open to the truths of the world, non-action is no longer an option.
So this is the beginning of something. I’m starting small with only a few conscious creations from Tanzania, Rwanda and Thailand, but I'm working to connect the dots with my other contacts from my travels so we can collectively help more people.  The more products I can offer you, the more people we can help!
Thought + Action = Effect

The What

I will try to be involved with the custom design of my products whenever possible, like with the mandala bags, but this isn't always feasible. Whether they’re my own designs or not, they’ll be beautiful handmade works of art from people that really need our help.
What is a mandala, you ask?  A mandala is a circular design of Hindu origin that represents unity and oneness with the earth.  As I began my travels, on my first layover in Delhi, actually, I began drawing mandalas.  They became my only form of artistic expression as I could only justify carrying a pen and journal; real art supplies were a luxury I just couldn't afford to carry in my oversized trekking backpack.
What began as a series of doodles, over two plus years of travel, turned into intricate freehand works of art. I take inspiration from my environment; curly cue monkey tails, Tibetan Buddhist drawings, nature or a chance encounter with a stranger might move me to draw. All mandalas are unique and capture the essence of that day, whatever I was experiencing in the country I was in.
Here are a few of my favorites!
Mandala Prints Coming Soon!
Drawn during a life changing 10-day silent retreat in Dharamsala, India
Drawn after spending a week laughing and jumping with two girlfriends who visited from the U.S. all the way in Italy.  Yes, we indulged in wine, ate gelato and pizza to our hearts content!
Drawn on a flight from England to Italy where I said goodbye to someone I cared about very much.  Teardrops were the inspiration here as I didn't know if I'd ever see this person again.  I couldn't have known then I'd be traveling to Africa with him 4 months later and that it would initiate this Conscious Creations movement I'm now so passionate about.
Ahhh, these magical serendipitous encounters and experiences have surprised me a thousand times over as I traversed the globe.

The How

Throughout my travels I began searching out special groups making beautiful hand crafted products, then I worked with them to design special items, like the mandala bags from Tanzania, or I’d just buy products they're already making.
It sounds pretty simple when I write it down, but it’s not. There are language barriers and cultural differences to navigate involving etiquette and negotiating, long lead times and frustrating delays, plus it’s pretty expensive to ship to the states. I'm aware this isn't the most profitable business model, but it’s worth it though to seek out these special people, support them and share their stories with you.
All products ship from the U.S. and come with a money back guarantee.  If you're not happy with your Conscious Creation, just send it back for a full refund minus shipping.
